If you are:
- highly motivated,
- committed to developing
your best capabilities,
- interested in forming a study
group with your neighbors, and
- ready to get a jump on your first
fast-paced 10-week quarter
...then the SLC may be for you!
The SLC is a community of science and engineering students within the larger community of Crown College. It's members are housed in the same residence hall, will take several classes together as a group and be placed in special ACademic Excellence (ACE) sections of Chemistry and Math. Statistics show that UCSC science and engineering students who participate in extra academic sections, like those offered as part of the SLC, earn 6% more A grades and 7% more B grades in their supported courses. (For more information about UCSC's award winning ACE Program see http://ace.ucsc.edu/about.html.)
In order to be eligible for the SLC, you must plan to take Chemistry 1A and/or Math 3 in the fall. The SLC application can be downloaded below and is due by May 15, 2009. Space is limited so I recommend applying early. I will notify you of your acceptance as soon as possible.
