Crown lecturer and CIED project manager Nada Miljkovic has recently released a movie: Joymakers.
 This film is about the world of South Serbian Roma trumpeters and their quest to establish a music school, dedicated to nurturing young talent and preserving their rich musical heritage The film’s compelling narrative, celebrating themes of hope, resilience, and the transformative power of music, resonates deeply with audiences across the globe. Joymakers was awarded the Grand Prix at the 8th Annual FROM (International Festival of Short Films with a Roma Theme), it was named a Winner at the Miami Women Film Festival 2024, it has been accepted into the prestigious Berlin Women’s Cinema Festival, and it has premiered in for other international film festivals.

Bill Diamond (CEO and Director of the Search for Extraterrestrial Life Institute -SETI-) was interviewed by Loren Kinzell (member of the UC Observatory Director’s Advisory Council and Chair-elect of the UCSC Board of Trustees), about his journey in technology development. This journey included work on photonics, with the development of laser-based methods to profile the chemical composition of the atmosphere as a way to monitor pollution, and the development of optical communications. Bill also shared his fascinating experience leading a team of scientists to look for evidence of intelligent extraterrestrial life in other star systems. Crown Appoints three highly successful professionals as Adjunct Professors in Innovation and Entrepreneurial Development so that they can share their experience in industry and facilitate our student’s transition into the job market. These will be dedicated faculty who will not only teach, but also conduct research and service.
